Amsterdam Brewhouse

On The Lake

The Amsterdam Brewhouse was a visit I made on a beautiful Friday afternoon with my friend, Antonino, on his recommendation. It was a casual, vivid and bright patio dining area (although there was also an indoor sitting area – but no one would want to be outside on a day like when I went!).

We started off with some drinks – Antonino’s selection is to the right on the top photo, known to all customers as the Local 416 Lager, which was a filtered lager brewed with toasted wheat & 2-row malts with Cascade & Sorachi hops. My choice that afternoon was the Natural Blonde Lager which was a Canadian Lager brewed with 2 row malts and Haller-tau hops.

We also got ourselves a starter of salted pretzel which came with two different types of dips – one which tasted like a coffee flavored syrup, and one that was on the completely different side of the spectrum – a mustard tasting dipping sauce. Either or were delicious depending on your personal preference.

Soon enough, the main courses came out – Antonino’s selection on the top was the Butternut Squash Ravioli. From the looks of it, it looked absolutely spectacular – it was a homemade cooked ravioli which consisted of collard greens, brown butter Sage, oven dried tomatoes, caramelized forest mushrooms and fizzled shallots. He seemed to really enjoy his selection as well!

I’ve always been a fan of Fish and Chips, so it was inevitable that the 416 Fish & Chips were the first choice I made. Local deep fried fish with beer batter, hand cut fries and creamy coleslaw – this dish was as tasty as it looks in the pictures.

Overall, the Amsterdam Brewhouse was a great restaurant to enjoy company, weather and spectacular food. It has seating options close to the lake, or by the docks where all the boats could be found. The Amsterdam Brewhouse is no doubt a recommendation to anyone who has social gatherings, or just wants to catch up with friends!
